INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2022 AT RAINBOW COLLEGE
Rainbow College is a great high school in Lagos, Nigeria, known for its excellent teaching and nurturing in a perfect environment. It started with Pampers Private School and grew from the need for more education. Rainbow College began in September 1996 as the first all-boys private college in Lagos, and two years later, in 1998, Rainbow College for Girls was also started. On October 11, 2022, the world celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with the theme: “Go Girl.” We wanted to highlight that every girl has a bright future and should aim high. To support this, Creative Hands Ministry organized a seminar at Rainbow College, specifically for the SS1 and SS2 girls. The hall was full, with about 100 girls attending. We planned several activities to make the day special. Aunty Etima, a teen counselor, had a fun session teaching the girls the importance of persisting in pursuing their goals. She encouraged them to “take it by force and never let it go.” The girls also learned that they define who they are and what they want, and no one else has the right to tell them otherwise. Pastor Esther, an ethics expert, spoke to them about being polite, empathetic, and how to relate to others properly. It was a memorable experience as the girls had fun with an interview session, played games, and participated in a TikTok dance challenge to lighten the day. After the lectures, we took pictures with the girls and staff, and they received various gifts from us, making them happy. We didn’t forget the school staff, and they also received gifts from Creative Hands Ministry. They appreciated the ministry’s efforts in educating the girl child.
